Simeon Bargatze Family History

Simeon Bargatze was originally from Graubunden, Switzerland. Simeon, his wife Kathrina and their seven children immigrated to America in September 1846. They settled in Wartburg, Morgan County, Tennessee. Simeon made application to become a U.S. citizen in November 1847 and he became a naturalized U.S. citizen on 19 July 1853, having satisfied a five year residency requirement in the United States. Sometime after 1860 Simeon and his wife moved to Nashville to be closer to three of their children who had settled there. Simeon died on the 6th of August 1864 and is buried at the Nashville City Cemetery. His wife Kathrina returned to Wartburg, Tennessee.

Just an added note: In August 1932, Simeon’s grandson Lawrence A. Bauman
was elected Sheriff of Davidson county and re-elected in 1934 & 1936.
