Death of an Aged Man. An old man, named HIRAM PENNEL, who has been supported by his friends for several years past, was found at Parrish’s stable Thursday, dying with consumption. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital where he expired yesterday morning.

Died. HORTON. On March 23rd, at 10:30 o’clock p. m., MRS. SOPHIA W. HORTON, in the 75th year of her age. Funeral from First Baptist church on Wednesday morning, March 25, at 10:30 o’clock. Services by Rev. Dr. T.G. Jones and Dr. J. W. Hoyte. The gentlemen requested to act as pallbearers will please be at Currey’s at 9 o’clock a. m.

Death of a Well-known Citizen. CAPTAIN JESSE L. DORTCH, father of Nat F. Dortch, died at his residence yesterday at the advanced age of 76 years. CAPTAIN DORTCH was, for a long time, identified with the steamboat interests of the Cumberland River. He was highly esteemed and much beloved by all who knew him.
