March 21, 1874. Death of an Aged Man. An old man, named HIRAM PENNEL, who has been supported by his friends for several years past, was found at Parrish’s stable Thursday, dying with consumption. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital where he expired yesterday morning.
March 25, 1874 Died. HORTON. On March 23rd, at 10:30 o’clock p. m., MRS. SOPHIA W. HORTON, in the 75th year of her age. Funeral from First Baptist church on Wednesday morning, March 25, at 10:30 o’clock. Services by Rev. Dr. T.G. Jones and Dr. J. W. Hoyte. April 14, 1874 Death on Deaderick Street. MR. WILLIAM GUNTHER, a well known shoemaker in the employ of Mr. H Fritz, died yesterday afternoon of brain fever. MR. GUNTHER was formerly of St. Louis. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o’clock from No. 27 Deadrick Street.

May 2, 1874 Sudden Death. MRS. C. J. LAMB, wife of A. L. LAMB, died suddenly of heart disease in South Nashville Thursday night.

September 8, 1874 Inquest. A colored woman named SARAH HILMAN died suddenly of apoplexy on Line Street Sunday. Deputy Coroner Ryan held an inquest over her body.
September 12, 1874 Died. CARSON. Yesterday at 4 p. m., JOHN CARSON, at the residence of Allen Rawls, seven miles from the city on the Murfreesboro Pike. October 30, 1874 Death of a Well-known Citizen. CAPTAIN JESSE L. DORTCH, father of Nat F. Dortch, died at his residence yesterday at the advanced age of 76 years. CAPTAIN DORTCH was, for a long time, identified with the steamboat interests of the Cumberland River. He was highly esteemed and much beloved by all who knew him.
